Star Wars Episode IX wraps filming, J.J. Abrams tweets set photo

Principal filming for the Star Wars Episode IX has wrapped, according to a tweet from director J.J. Abrams.

The name of the last film, in the new trilogy has not yet been released, even as the film is slated to be released in December.

Abrams' tweet said: "It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX. There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all.”

Abrams tweeted a photo of actors Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac hugging in front of a desert background.

Billy Dee Williams will reprise his role as Lando Calrissian in the new film and Carrie Fisher will also appear posthumously.

New faces to the trilogy will include Keri Russell, Naomi Ackie, Dominic Monaghan, Matt Smith, and Richard E. Grant.

Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd are all slated to reappear in Episode IX.
