SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) - It's time to wish a fond farewell to a few dozen titles as Netflix refreshes its offerings with the start of August. Most of this month's departures don't happen until the end of next month, so there's still plenty of time to catch these films and series before they're gone.

Blue Is the Warmest Color

Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos star in "Blue is the Warmest Color," a 2013 French film based on Julie Maroh's graphic novel of the same name. The story follows Adèle (Exarchopoulos) and her ever-evolving relationship with Emma (Seydoux). The love of your life is not always the love that endures. (Leaving 8/25/20)

Clueless

The idea of taking Jane Austen's "Emma" and placing it in the 1990s is about as bonkers as turning Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" into modern-day comedy. Somehow it works as writer/director Amy Heckerling (she also directed "Fast Times at Ridgemont High") injects the script with wit and a savage sense of humor. Alicia Silverstone stars as Cher, as a teenage socialite with a knack for matchmaking. She's not nearly as adept at understanding or following her own heart. (Leaving 8/31/20)

Get Him to the Greek

"Forgetting Sarah Marshall" was one of those rare contemporary comedies that I could connect with. "Get Him to the Greek" is a spin-off featuring Russell Brand reprising his role as rock star Aldous Snow. It's vulgar and occasionally goes too far down the rabbit hole, but that's a fairly accurate description of the music industry. The film sees Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) trying to restart Snow's career with a live concert at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Snow is far more interested in derailing his life. Drink, drugs and excess follow. (Leaving 8/31/20)

Jerry Maguire

Cameron Crowe's "Jerry Maguire" is an exploration of ego and hubris. Tom Cruise stars as Gerald "Jerry" Maguire, a successful sports agent who has become disillusioned with the direction of the industry. Fired from his high profile position, Jerry is left with only one client, Rod Tidwell (Cuba Gooding Jr.), a disagreeable wide receiver. Through the most difficult times Jerry find support from Dorothy Boyd (Renée Zellweger); not all things are meant to last. (Leaving 8/31/20)

V for Vendetta

Once upon a time films like "Brazil," books like "1984" and graphic novels like "V For Vendetta" were cautionary tales of a future that felt avoidable. Well, here we are. Released in 2005, "V For Vendetta" was an interesting action film with plenty of style, Natalie Portman and a mini history lesson for those unfamiliar with Guy Fawkes. At the time, "V For Vendetta" felt like a place we had been, not like a future destination. The story explores a post-apocalyptic England overrun by white supremacists and homophobic fascists. From the ashes of humanity an anti-hero rises.(Leaving 8/31/20)
