(KUTV) Over the past week, 20 cats have been abandoned at the Friends in Need Animal Sanctuary in Eagle Mountain.
"We have got 20 cats that have been dropped off on us. And we're hoping that this doesn't continue because we're not equipped for this," said Friends in Need co-founder, Kim O'Donnell.
Many of the cats suffered from upper respiratory infections, ear mites, and sores.
Authorities are searching for the people responsible for abandoning the animals.
"They haven't been cared for, they weren't spayed or neutered. They're all fairly young. It looks to me like they all came from the same house," said volunteer Staci Johnson. "Possibly a hoarder situation."
Police are looking into finding a black Toyota Tacoma and possibly also a white Toyota Corolla as potential leads. If you have any information about who may have surrendered these animals, call Utah County Sheriff's Office.
