(KUTV) -- A nativity scene at a church in Massachusetts is sparking major controversy by questioning the term "peace on Earth."

Baby Jesus is in a cage and the wise men are closed off by a wall in the scene at Saint Susanna Parish in Dedham, Massachusetts, CBS Boston reported.

Parishioner Phil Mandeville told CBS that this is supposed to spark conversations about immigration and children being separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border.

"Christ was political. He was hung on a cross for making political statements and bucking the authority, and that's exactly why he died."

However, some people who live in the area say the scene is offensive.

"This is not where you come to be preached at about what you should think about politics," Helen Watson told CBS.
