Man dead in Tremonton after shooting, suspect calls police

UPDATE: Tremonton Police Chief Dave Nance said the suspect is Brandon Thompson, 33.

(KUTV) A man is dead in Tremonton, Utah, after an apparent shooting early Monday morning.

The Tremonton Leader reported that a man shot another man and then called police. Officers found a 33-year-old man dead and took the suspected shooter into custody.

Police said there was a dispute between the two men and said the suspect is cooperating. The victim was temporarily living at the home at 3625 W., 1000 North, in Tremonton. Thompson lived there with a woman who was asleep at the time of the shooting that reportedly happened just before 4 a.m..

A handgun has reportedly been recovered by investigators according to the Tremonton news outlet.

Charges have not been filed.

According to the Tremonton Leader, the last known homicide in the city was May 12, 1965.
