(KUTV) Charges have been filed against a Unified Police Department officer who is accused of making a fake 911 call.
Lt. Dan McConkey is accused of calling police and reporting a suspicious car at a home in South Jordan, Utah. Investigators who check out the home found nothing suspicious and after looking further, determined the home belonged to McConkey's estranged wife.
Police said they don't know why McConkey made the fake call.
He has been charged with making a false emergency call and obstruction of justice.
Unified PD said he has been placed on leave while the criminal case plays out.
