Troopers with the Utah Highway Patrol hope to fill their patrol cars full of non-perishable food in the agency's first ever "Fill the Hive - Food Drive."

On Wednesday, troopers will be at the Smith’s Marketplace at 3215 S Valley St. in East Millcreek, Utah from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. That location is just west of I-215 on 3300 South.

This food drive is an extension of one UHP has been holding since Nov. 9 at UHP's Salt Lake County field office and headquarters locations. Food can still be dropped off at those locations.

In a news release, UHP stated:

By partnering with the Utah Food Bank and Smiths, UHP hopes to show gratitude through giving, and by helping stock the cupboards of fellow Utahns, being a catalyst for gratitude in others."

This is the first time UHP is doing its "Fill the Hive" food drive, and the agency hopes to make it an annual event moving forward.

People can donate to the Utah Food Bank through their website utahfoodbank.org.
