Hundreds of miles away from the Staples Center where thousands of Los Angeles Lakers fans crowded to pay their respects to Kobe Bryant, Utahns gathered outside the Vivint Smart Home Arena for the same reason.

Fans created a shrine in the basketball star's honor on the J Note outside the arena. It includes Bryant jerseys, basketballs, flowers, teddy bears, balloons, candles and a handwritten sign that said, "Thank you Kobe!"

Bryant, 41, was killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday in California, alongside his 13-year-old daughter Gianna "Gigi" and seven other people.

During Monday night's game against the Houston Rockets, the Utah Jazz committed a 24-second shot clock violation on their first possession. The Rockets follow by committing an 8-second backcourt violation. Both gestures were done in honor of Bryant, who wore the jersey numbers 24 and 8 during his 20-year NBA career with the Lakers.

There was also a moment of silence before tip-off.

"He's a legend and we're going to miss him," Mitchell said during an interview.

I think we can all do our part because he was a legend, not just on the court, but as a human being.
