Reddit user, caitlind136, poses with a trash bag full of trash she finds on her biweekly hike along the Potomac River in Bethesda, Maryland.

Caitlind136 disclosed to 2News that she has picked up trash for the past five years. She said,

’I've been doing for it years after realizing that I had no right to complain about all the trash people dump on the ground if I don’t do anything about it.

Caitlind136 posted the photo with the caption, “Not as impressive as a whole beach but whenever I go hiking I bring a trash bag. This was the worst mess I’ve cleaned so far”

The trash floating on the Potomac has received much attention, so much so that ‘trash-skimming’ has become a highly popular volunteer opportunity.

A volunteer initiative picked out 300,000 pounds of trash from the river last year.

The Reddit-user concluded,

...It’s great that everyone is so into it in this second but just remember to continue the momentum.
