(KUTV) Real Salt Lake's season is on the line Wednesday night as it visits Los Angeles to face the Galaxy in a knockout game in MLS playoffs.

The match kicks off at 8:30 p.m. Utah time and puts RSL in its first ever knockout round for the first time in franchise history. Although the team is no stranger to the playoffs, qualifying in eight of the last nine years, it has never before faced a single match for elimination.

Real is the sixth seed in the west in the MLS playoffs. The Galaxy and RSL hope to advance to the the Major League Soccer's Western Conference Semifinals. A win would mean a match hosting Dallas in Rio Tinto Stadium on Sunday.

The match is a playoff reunion for the two teams. In 2009, Real defeated a star-studded Galaxy team to win the MLS Cup. RSL also eliminated Los Angeles in 2013 but lost to the Galaxy in 2011 and 2014.

Real is winless in its last seven games of the season with a 0-4-3 mark, earning just three of the 21 available standings points down the stretch and scored just two goals in its final six matches.
